Artist statement

“I’m interested in how suburbs evolve and the lives that pass through them. ‘On the way to where I was going’ is a mural that reflects the history and the sense of vibrancy in the suburb of Camperdown. To give a sense of Camperdown changing over time, sections of the mural animate, giving the impression of an evolving landscape. Visitors to the mural will be able to access the animation on their phones.
The mural is made up of images taken in consultation with local residents in sessions held close to the wall site. They show buildings and people connected to Camperdown”
