Artist statement 

“When asked to paint portraits highlighting notable women from the local area, my thought was women from the arts. But my girlfriend suggested the 2019 Women’s Honour Roll. I was moved to discover these women were chosen by peers to celebrate empowerment, equality, social justice, and inclusion. I think it’s imperative people are reminded about the good that happens within our local community.   The brightly coloured arrangements represent diversity and oneness. The portraits remain vibrant, commanding, and full of life - just as the women are within their communities. Collectively, they are a public reminder of the incredible people who work tirelessly and fearlessly to help others in need."
