Arts support during COVID-19

We have compiled a list on links to information for our artists, musicians and creative sector communities to find assistance and information during the COVID-19 pandemic.  


    Art Music Fund provides funding for the creation of commissioned work that is innovative, displays professional compositional craft and represents a benchmark for excellence in its field, close 16 February 2022.
  • Australia Council for the Arts
    A range of grants and opportunities are currently open, Arts Projects for Individuals and Groups, Arts Projects Organisations, Contemporary Music Touring Program, Contemporary Touring Initiative, Playing Australia Project Investment, close 1 March 2022. The Marten Bequest Bequest Scholarships offer opportunities for young artists to study and develop interstate and overseas, close 1 February 2022.
  • Australian Cultural Fund 
    Fundraising platform for Australian artists, artists upload their projects to the ACF website then invite art lovers and supporters to donate.
  • Australian Government, Arts Sustainability Fund
    The Arts Sustainability Fund supports the arts and entertainment sector to continue its activities by providing necessary finance to plan a pathway for recovery from the effects of COVID‑19. Open until all funds are allocated or until 31 May 2022 whichever is sooner.
  • City of Sydney
    A number of funding programs are open all year round, including Quick response grants of $500 - $2,000 available for a range of activities.
  • Community Broadcasting Foundation Pty Ltd  
    Content and Development & Operations grants close 1 March 2022. Quick Response grants are available any time to support community media organisations experiencing emergencies that risk discontinued transmission or operations, or who have been provided with a time-limited opportunity.
  • Create NSW
    Arts and Cultural Funding Program has a number of funding opportunities currently open for Individuals and Organisations close 31 January 2022. Small Project grants quick response up to $5,000 available all year round.  
  • Creative Partnerships Australia
    Matched funding programs including Plus1 for small to medium not-for-profit arts organisations and MATCH lab for independent artists and groups. 
  • The Ian Potter Foundation 
    The Ian Potter Cultural Trust Grant for Emerging Artists offers grants of up to $10,000 to assist talented early career artists to undertake professional development, usually overseas, close 25 January 2022. 
  • Screen NSW
    A range of funding opportunities are currently open including Strategic Opportunities Program, Time Critical Shooting, Early Development support of up to $50,000 for pre draft and early draft costs, Advance Development support up to $50,000 for later stage draft and non draft costs, close 30 June 2022. 

Financial support

  • Actors Benevolent Fund of NSW
    Provides compassionate and confidential support, to help entertainment professionals throughout NSW maintain their health, dignity and ability to work.
  • Artists Benevolent Fund
    Provides modest but useful one-off financial assistance to Australian visual artists in crisis as a result of emergencies.Australian Government 
  • Australian Federal Government 
    Economic response to COVID-19 the Government is working with states and territories to provide further financial assistance to workers and businesses affected by lockdowns and restrictions in COVID-19 Hotspots 
  • Australian Federal Government
    COVID-19 Disaster Payment if you have lost income due to lockdown restrictions in Sydney from June 2021.  Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment if you can't earn an income because you must self isolation or quarantine 
  • Australian Tax Office
    COVID-19 support available for Individual, Business and Not for Profits.
  • NSW Government 
    NSW Government COVID-19 assistance finder, provides information on services and support available to NSW residents
  • Support Act
    Support Act provides crisis relief to artists, artist managers, crew and music workers who are unable to work due to illness, injury, mental healthy issue or some other crisis including the impact of COVID-19 on live music.

    Tallies the economic impact of lost gigs.
  • Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance
    Simple online portal to send an email to Treasurer Josh Frydenberg to speak up for creative industry workers impacted by COVID-19.
  • Save Our Stages NSW 
    Simple online portal to write to your MP requesting support from the NSW Government to save NSW's Live Music Industry
