Community Leaders in Sustainability course
Inner West Council’s 2020 Community Leaders in Sustainability course is a chance to transform your ideas into action. This free course run by the Green Living Centre connects you with others passionate about creating local community-based solutions to climate change and other environmental issues.
Due to COVID-19 the 2020 course is on hold.
Are you concerned about your local environment and the climate emergency, and wondering how you can be part of the solution? Taking action in your local community is one way you can contribute and create change. There’s plenty we can each do on our own, but real change happens when people work together.
The course includes sessions on project development and management, effective communication, leadership skills, collaborating in groups and building partnerships. You'll meet experts, hear about successful community environment projects and connect with other like-minded people.
With the support of the program, participants put their knowledge and skills into practice and will work towards delivering a community environmental project that creates positive outcomes for the Inner West. These projects could be in a workplace, your street or local area, with neighbours, friends or an existing group you are part of.
The list of possible projects is endless. They could be an event, creating a network or an on-going project; however projects should take a community-focused approach to environmental sustainability. Past participants have developed a tool library, sharing and reuse projects, composting and garden projects, and resources for green renters.
