Meet at: Rozelle Bay Community Native Nursery entrance

Discover Whites Creek Wetlands, a thriving ecosystem with a wide range of plants and animals. The wetland performs a number of important functions, including filtering stormwater before it reaches Rozelle Bay and Sydney Harbour, and providing freshwater habitat for long-necked turtles, frogs, native fish, insects and other aquatic organisms. Many bird species can also be found in the wetlands and surrounding area.

Bushtukka Tour

Time: 12.00pm and 1.30pm
Meet at: Rozelle Bay Community Native Nursery entrance

On this relaxed walk in Whites Creek Valley Park you will be introduced to the variety of native plants which sustained the traditional Aboriginal custodians of this area: the Gadigal and Wangal peoples of the Eora Nation. Learn about the many food and medicinal plants that grow in your local bushland, how they change with the seasons and their cultural uses.

Nursery TourNursery tour 230

Meet at: Rozelle Bay Community Native Nursery entrance

Take a tour of Rozelle Bay Community Native Nursery. You’ll learn how the nursery uses locally sourced seed to propagate local native plant species. The plants are used at bushcare sites across the Inner West, and in Council’s ecological restoration, parks and streetscapes projects. The nursery is open to the public to purchase seedlings to plant on their properties.

Food Forest TourFood Forest Tour_230

Time: 1.00pm and 2.00pm
Meet at: Friends of Whites Creek stall

Take a tour of the Whites Creek Valley Park Food Forest with volunteer coordinator Gillian Leahy to discover the many varieties of fruit trees growing there. Gillian will also talk about the design of the forest and permaculture principles.
