Volunteering at Tom Foster Community Care

Tom Foster Community Care has a dynamic team of volunteers who work with clients to help maintain an independent lifestyle, improve social opportunities and participate in the community.
Volunteering roles at Tom Foster include:

Food Services Volunteers

The Meals on Wheels program operates Mondays to Fridays. Deliveries leave the centre in Newtown between 8.00am and 10.45am. Volunteers work in pairs on a run. One volunteer is the driver and the other volunteer takes the meals into the client. Volunteers generally work once a week or once a fortnight.

Social Support Service

The Social Support Service operates Monday to Sunday. Volunteers assist by providing social interaction through a range of activities. This can include home visiting, going out for a coffee, accompanying clients to appointments or personal shopping. Volunteers visit the same client on a regular basis.

Senior’s group volunteers

A Seniors group comes into Tom Foster on Fridays. Volunteers assist by helping with morning tea, lunch and activities. Volunteers also help on monthly outings on Wednesdays and Fridays.
