Sydenham to Bankstown Urban Renewal
Sydenham to Bankstown Urban Renewal Corridor Strategy
The NSW State Government exhibited the initial draft Sydenham to Bankstown Urban Renewal Corridor Strategy (Strategy) in October 2015 and a revised draft Strategy in June 2017.
The aim is to create more housing, jobs and infrastructure around eleven train stations on the Sydenham to Bankstown line (including Sydenham, Marrickville and Dulwich Hill) and make this area a high-frequency metro train service under the Sydney Metro Southwest project.
As a result, land up to 800 metres from the stations could be rezoned to allow medium and high density development.
The following additional dwellings and jobs are projected for the Sydenham, Marrickville and Dulwich Hill Precincts (located within the Inner West local government area) by 2036:
- Sydenham Station Precinct: 500 additional dwellings and 711 jobs
- Marrickville Station Precinct: 6,000 additional dwellings and 555 jobs
- Dulwich Hill Station Precinct: 2,000 additional dwellings and 275 jobs

- Council invite local community action groups to provide their submissions to Council for inclusion in Council’s submission; and
- the final submission to be presented back to the 24 October 2017 Council Meeting.
