Streets Alive - Main Streets

The Main Streets program is a series of short-term projects that can be delivered by June 2024. These projects are quick measures that will ensure that our streets continue to be improved with more places for people and community, while long term capital projects in our retail centres are planned and delivered.

Some quick wins completed in late 2022 include:

  • Graffiti removal within the public domain and from railway embankment walls on TfNSW property
  • Planting and paving improvements in Stanmore
  • Upgrades to Summer Hill Plaza
  • Tree wrapping with fairy lights at Summer Hill Plaza, Norton Street in Leichhardt, and Darling Street in Balmain
  • Distinctive artworks applied to bins across the Inner West local government area 
  • New banner designs along our main streets 

More information about planning for more significant projects will be available soon. They will include:

  • Laneway beautification
  • Plaza improvements
  • Streetscape improvements
  • Pop-up plazas
  • New public artwork
  • New street furniture

  • New signs in the Leichhardt, Petersham and Annandale areas
