Each year across Australia, The Children’s Book Council of Australia brings children and books together celebrating CBCA Book Week 18-24 August 2018. During this time schools, libraries, booksellers, authors, illustrators and children celebrate Australian children’s literature.

This year’s theme is ‘Find Your Treasure’
Inner West Libraries will celebrate with our annual drawing and writing competition, and a visit from Australian children’s author James Foley.

The competition opens Friday, 1 June 2018 and closes Friday, 10 August 2018.

Entry forms can be picked and submitted at up at any Inner West Council Library.

Prizes

Join us for a special presentation afternoon at Ashfield Library, Friday, 24 August 2018, 4pm. There are lots of great book prizes to win. Winners will be notified by Friday 17 August 2018.

See Australian children's author James Foley

James Foley is a well-known Australian children’s author. He writes and illustrates picture books, graphic novels and junior fiction books. We are lucky enough to have him visit from Western Australia for Book Week. James is an inspiring and interactive speaker who gets kids really involved and motivated to write and read more. His books have scored several honours, including children’s choice awards, shortlistings in the Children’s Book Council of Australia Book of the Year awards, and selection to the International Youth Library’s White Raven list. Notable books are The Last Viking picture book series, My Dead Bunny, The Amity Kids Adventures, Brobots and the S.TINKER INC graphic novels.
