To celebrate NSW Bike Week 2017, we're running free events and courses all week! From cycling rookies to pros, there's something for everyone.

There are free cycling workshops in the week leading up to our final event, the Big Bike Day festival on Sunday 24 September. Drop by to celebrate all things cycling-related!

 

City Cycle Confidence Course

Whites Creek Valley Park, Annandale

Designed to improve your cycle skills and confidence while riding, this course is tailored to encourage safer cycling across the city and give you the flair you need to take to two wheels on a more regular basis.

Bike Maintenance Workshop

Camperdown Community Meeting Room, Camperdown Park

This course is designed for those who want to be able to deal with common bike issues. You will learn about bicycle maintenance in a way that makes bicycle mechanics very easy to understand. Following the course you’ll feel empowered to tackle most of the issues you could be confronted with whilst out and about on your bike.

Rusty Riders Course

Tempe Recreation Reserve, Tempe

The Rusty Rider Course is tailored for those who haven't ridden for a while and just need the confidence to start riding more regularly. This course is designed for those who know how to ride but need better bike handling skills before contemplating a ride on the road. It runs at a slower pace and develops the skills and confidence required to be an effective bike rider.

Tour de Balmain with Bike Leichhardt

Starting from Bar Italia, Leichhardt

Bike Leichhardt is hosting a 15km guided ride around Balmain the morning of the Big Bike Day. Explore the historic sites, old houses and harbour parks of Balmain along quiet streets. Return to War Memorial Park for a free lunch and activities at the annual Inner West Council Big Bike Day. Children over 11 are welcome. Children ages 12-17 years must be accompanied by an adult.

Big Bike Day

War Memorial Park, Lilyfield (corner Moore & Catherine Sts)

Big Bike Day is an annual festival held every year in September, for both avid and casual bike riders of all ages. The day is completely FREE (including lunch and refreshments!) and features:

  • Free Serendipity ice cream from Icicle Bicycle, pedal-powered smoothies by Bike N Blend and coffee from Nomadic Cafe
  • Bike skills workshops for people of all ages and experience
  • Free bicycle maintenance checks and bike valet parking
  • Try-a-bike with Glow Worm Bicycles
  • Rock climbing wall, face painting, bicycle decorating and unicycling
  • Free lunch, coffee and beverages!
  • Raffle prizes

There is a guided 6km ride at 11:30am. To register for the ride, fill out the form on Eventbrite:

Please arrive at 11am to check-in. Participants must bring a bicycle that is in good working order; wear a helmet; and be at least 12 years of age. Children ages 12-17 years must be accompanied by an adult. The route is below:

Children under 12 years of age are welcome to stay in the park and enjoy the activities while accompanied by an adult. There is no need to register to attend the event if you are not going on the guided ride.
