All staff that will be onsite at this event must complete this online induction. You will be required to show proof to Council staff prior to entering the event site.
- Do not take risks with your own health and safety – avoid the temptation to overstep the bounds of your own competence
- Follow all procedures implemented at this work site
- Respect others in the workplace and do not expose them to any risk as a result of your actions
- Cooperate with others to maintain a safe workplace – follow instructions or warnings given by Event Staff, other contractors and crew where they relate to your, or their, safety
- Do not interfere with equipment used by others
- Do not switch items on or off that you are not using
- Do not use tools that are not yours without asking, and returning
- Do not enter areas where others are working unless asked to do so
- Power – Do not touch the generator on-site. Do not plug into the generators. Speak to events staff if you need assistance.
- Work at height – Critical safety issue. Whenever working at any potentially dangerous height appropriate fall arrest/fall restriction PPE must be worn. Rescue procedures must be in place.
- Working with plant – Accredited operators only. No lifts, no riding forks, no keys in machine.
- Mobile phones – Don't talk on a mobile phone when operating plant, lifting things or when others are counting on you to pay attention. Repeat offenders may be removed from site
- Trip and falls – Keep an eye out for trip hazards, report them to Event Staff and if possible, remove them or clearly mark them
- Manual Handling – Use the correct lifting techniques when lifting anything, ask if you are not sure
- Weather (wind, sun and rain issues)
- Noise – Stay away from excessive noise, if not practical make sure to wear hearing protection
- Driving on-site – Speed limit is 10km/h with hazards lights turned on
- De-hydration – Keep fluids up by drinking plenty of water (supplied by event staff during live event hours only)
- Ensure that appropriate fatigue management practices are in place for all staff and take regular breaks
- No alcohol or drugs in the workplace
- Tidy work areas
- High-visibility vests to be worn at all times (pre and post event or always if working with traffic)
- Full body harness and connection to inertia reel/fall arrestor for any work at height
- Hard hats wherever work is carried out at height above or near you
- Footwear – Depending on the job. Work boots recommended, open shoes prohibited
- Hearing protection to be worn where noise exceeds 85 dBA
- Always use sun-screen if working outdoors
- Report ALL incidents/‘near miss’ situations to the safety officer or event staff
- If it is a serious incident, don’t move or change anything other than to reach the person(s) involved and render assistance
- Personal injuries immediately notify the First Aider on-site, this includes small incidents such as cuts and abrasions.
If there are any concerns about safety or hazards on-site, follow these steps:
- Report to your supervisor / crew boss – if unsatisfied with the answer
- Report to the safety officer – if unsatisfied with the answer
- Report to event staff – if unsatisfied with the answer
- Report to WorkCover but only after you have taken steps A to C
