About Mental Health Month  


Mental Health Month encourages all of us to think about our mental health and wellbeing, regardless of whether we have a lived experience of a mental condition or not.

It also gives us the opportunity to understand the importance of good mental health in our everyday lives and encourages seeking help when needed.

October is Mental Health Month

Mental Health Month is month that helps people reflect about mental health and wellbeing each year in the month of October in NSW. This month encourages all of us to think about our mental health and wellbeing, regardless of whether we may have a lived experience of mental illness or not, and the importance of good mental health in everyday lives, while also encouraging seeking for help when needed.

The theme for Mental Health 2025 was Taking Steps on Your Wellbeing Journey. 

Heaps Mad

Location: Marrickville Pavilion

Date: Friday 31 October 2025

Time: 12pm to 6pm

Sydney Local Health District Mental Health Services and Inner West Council present Heaps Mad, an open mic event at Marrickville Pavilion.

We invite Inner West locals to perform for 5-10 minutes, from poetry and opera to dance and rock.

This event reflects on mental health, lived experiences, and the importance of mental well-being. We welcome all community members, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, diverse cultures, LGBTQ+ individuals, older persons, people with disabilities, and youth.
