“Life Force” - the Interconnectedness of all things at Chrissie Cotter Gallery

Council’s Chrissie Cotter Gallery will soon host Ashfield artist Reiko Azuma’s exhibition, Life Force.

The title of the exhibition, Life Force, is based on the Buddhist term “Turning Poison Into Medicine”, Reiko said, adding she tries to live by this sentiment.

“These paintings were created during a very challenging period of my life,” Reiko said.

“They contain the particles of many lives, conversations, emotions, encouragement and wonderment. I feel these paintings contain thousands of realms.

“Creating this body of work has helped me give value to my struggles and see the true fortune that I always and already possessed within.

“I am surrounded by countless incredible people, but I was blinded by my own inner darkness, the blindness caused by the absence of appreciation of my own life.

Last year, I relearned and continue to learn, that the only way forward to creating true happiness and freedom is to elevate my own “Life Force”, as our happiness can not be depended on others behavior or our environment,” Reiko said.

Life Force is at Chrissie Cotter Gallery, Pidcock Street Camperdown, 17 - 27 March.

Opening Wednesday 16 March, 4pm - 7pm.
