National Tree Day @ Richard Murden Reserve
15 Jul 2018
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Richard Murden Reserve
Hawthorne ParadeHaberfield, NSW, Australia
National Tree Day is Australia's largest planting and nature care event and was started by Planet Ark. Inner West Council celebrates National Tree Day every year with community planting days, as well as a free tree giveaway to residents! The plantings will contribute to the area's local biodiversity and urban canopy for years to come.
This is one of three events being held across the Inner West LGA to celebrate National Tree Day 2018. Community plantings have occurred on this Bushcare site in Richard Murden Reserve for the past few years, and these plantations have been critical to the formation of new habitat. The site has also been recently updated with new artificial hollows and habitat boxes which are visited by a variety of microbats, possums and small mammals and several native bird species.
For site details and to register, please visit the official event page here. Council will supply gloves, trowels and other tools. Just show up with a water bottle, closed shoes and a hat!
Council is also celebrating National Tree Day at two other sites across three weekends in 2018. Click here to view them all. Please note that the tree giveaway will only occur at the Whites Creek event.
