Lunar New Year Lights launch | Friday 16 February from 7:30pm
Forecourt of Ashfield Civic Centre, Ashfield Town Hall
Join us on Friday 16 February at 7:30pm at Ashfield Town Hall forecourt to celebrate Lunar New Year with the launch of a new outdoor projection work. Curated by CLIPPED Creative Director Samuel Bright, three talented music video artists have been commissioned to create bespoke outdoor projections for the exterior of the Ashfield Town Hall that celebrates the artists’ own experiences, childhood, or reflections on Lunar New Year.

Steffie Yee 余淑婷
Steffie Yee is an Animation Director & Illustrator based in Australia. Steffie's work weaves together digital and mixed-media processes involving stop-motion, ink, pencil, video, & 2D / 3D animation. With a background in music, her animation style is driven by the synergy between sound & image. In addition to creating animation for music, film, 1V, & commercials, Steffie's work has also appeared in the forms of illustration, public art installation, & live visual installation for events. Steffie has notably done music videos for the likes of Sam Smith, TOKiMONSTA & Tkay Maidza.

Melissa Mai
Melissa Mai, is a freelance motion graphics designer and illustrator based in Sydney's Inner West. She has over 12 years experience creating beautiful design for TVCs, online content, broadcast design, title sequences and event graphics. Melissa was most recently working as a designer at award winning Sydney Post-Production company called VANDAL in Redfern (formerly known as Frame Set Match). During her time here she worked on high profile campaigns for Kelloggs, Vodafone, ABC4Kids, S26, Woolworths & many more. Melissa is also a passionate painter and illustrator.

Grace Chen
Grace Chen is an Inner West Sydney based 2D Artist and illustrator with experience in children's TV and picture books. She loves optimistic stories with heart and humour that help us navigate our universal concerns. While Grace began working with storyboards, she also really enjoys painting, illustration and background art. One of the things she loves about animation is the collaborative nature that brings multiple mediums, personalities and stories together. Grace is a talented creative, producing work that is beautiful, innovative and that inspires empathy.

Ashfield Civic Centre (Forecourt and Ashfield Town Hall) with live
entertainment, lion dancing, various performers and more!
On 2 March 2024, the Lunar New Year Festival will be organised by Inner West Asian Business Association and Australian Federation of Chinese Organizations with the support of Inner West Council. This will be the annual largest Chinese New Year festival in the Inner West!
