Inner West Council Elections
Election day, Saturday 9 September 2017
On Saturday 9 September 2017 Inner West Council will hold elections to elect 15 new councillors. The community will elect 3 councillors for each of the 5 wards shown at the bottom of this page. Please visit the NSW Electoral Commission website for details on polling places for election day. Information on pre-poll will be available from August 2017.
Enrol to vote
Are you registered on the electoral roll?
To be eligible to vote in the Inner West Council elections you must be registered by 6pm, 31 July 2017.
Not sure if you’re on the roll? You can check your enrolment details by visiting the Vote NSW website 'check my enrolment' webpage .
What if I am overseas or away on election day?
If you will be overseas or interstate on election day, you should apply for a postal vote, or attend a pre-poll voting centre before you leave.
Pre-poll voting is open from Monday 28 August to Friday 8 September. Voting is not possible at any overseas embassies or interstate offices. Find out more about pre-poll voting here.
Depending on your date of departure, you can choose for postal voting packs to be sent to your home address, or any address you nominate within Australia or overseas.
Persons who are not a resident in a council area may apply to be enrolled to vote if they meet the criteria of the applications for the non-residential roll.
There are two different applications for inclusion on the non-residential roll:

Nominating to be a candidate

Council will hold two candidate information sessions:
- Thursday 20 July, commencing at 6.30pm at Leichhardt Service Centre, 7-15 Wetherill Street, Leichhardt
- Tuesday 15 August, commencing at 6.30pm at Ashfield Service Centre, 260 Liverpool Road, Ashfield
